Description: Experienced multi disciplinary design engineering professional required to utilise Revit and Autodesk Inventor to create 2D and 3D electrical and mechanical designs allied to the building services sector.
Our client has been established for almost half a century and specialise in the design, development, manufacture and commission of a range of products and solutions used in the mechanical and electrical building services sector supporting cabling, pipework and HVAC applications, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated Design Engineer to join their established and professional team.
Based in Nottingham and reporting to the Design Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be tasked with providing advice and technical input as well as designing and undertaking calculations for all aspects of bracketry and supports, and will be responsible for both maintaining and developing the technical solutions design service on behalf of the business in order to increase revenue generation and expand further on the product offering and portfolio available to the customer.
A confident communicator at all levels, you will be able to liaise with customers in order to fully understand their technical issues before presenting them with the most effective commercial and technical solution for their needs from the expansive range of products and fabrications available, creating installation and fabrication drawings and 2D and 3D drawings for bracket configurations and schematics, and Indemnified load data and calculations for standard and bespoke bracket configurations.
You will also be adept in providing Thermal expansion product advice and calculations and Anti-vibration and noise control product and solution advice, Engineering Technology Applications (ETA) and specialist fixing training, advice and testing, roof supports solutions for plant and services with calculations and Fire protection product advice for a range of building services.
With proven commercial acumen allowing you to provide initial costings for each job and liaise with the Sales team to negotiate the right price with the customer, you will be skilled in establishing whether a particular piece of work is commercially viable i.e. that it is worth doing from a business financial perspective and that it provides good value for money for the customer, whilst developing innovative new technical products and services and working closely with the Marketing and Sales teams to promote these to new and existing customers.
To be considered for this varied and challenging role it is envisaged that the successful candidate will ideally be degree qualified in Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineering and demonstrate at least 5 years previous experience of designing within the MEP / Mechanical / Pipework sector with knowledge and experience of BIM proving distinctly advantageous. You will essentially be skilled in performing structural load calculations and performing 2D and 3D CAD design using Autodesk Inventor, with experience of performing thermal expansion calculations again proving advantageous.
