Our client, established for more than a century and renowned globally as a market leader in their specialist field, are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly self motivated and capable Development Engineer to work within their busy manufacturing environment and to complement their highly successful existing product development and production teams.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the identification and development of new products as well as improving the already impressive product offering portfolio, and will produce data for the selection programs by testing production samples, planning development tasks in order to control budgets and meet targets and both planning and conducting development testing such as vibration, thermal, pressure cycling and temperature cycling to strict timescales.
You will demonstrate proven analytical and practical skills as well as excellent communication abilities (both written and verbal) and will be a lateral thinker able to converse at all levels of the business. Additionally, you will be an excellent communicator at all levels and comfortable in working both autonomously and as part of a team and liaising with other departments, whilst taking full responsibility for the maintenance and condition of the development shop and equipment.
Qualified to at least HNC or degree level in an engineering discipline (ideally with a thermodynamic or heat transfer bias), you will ideally be able to demonstrate at least 2 years experience gained within a heat transfer / heat exchange related field, and will possess computer skills on MS Word/Excel/ Project platforms as well as knowledge of data loggers and instrumentation and ideally of noise and fan technology. Experience of Visual Basic programming and an interest in this field will prove distinctly advantageous as you will also be involved in the development of in house applications software in cooperation with other team members.
