Our client have been established for almost 50 years and specialise in the manufacture of bespoke special purpose machinery for supply to a range of industry sectors on a global basis. As a result of continued success and a planned program of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an articulate, dynamic and self motivated PLC Software and Servo Controls Engineer to complement their established and successful team.
Reporting to the Technical Director, the successful candidate will be tasked with the development of PLC, HMI and servo machine control systems for a diverse variety of extrusion cutting applications allied to the FMCG sector.
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of machine software development from initial customer discussions prior to order through to writing and testing software and following projects through to on site installation and commissioning and customer handover.
You will be responsible for the creation of software and associated electrical panel design, preparing wiring diagrams and issuing electrical parts lists as well as liaising with both suppliers and customers when appropriate and then testing the machines prior to commission at customer sites around the world.
Skilled in the design of software for machine control systems from an FDS, you will support the Production Department with the installation of software, machine start up and commissioning as well as providing technical support to customers and end users including fault find, diagnostic assistance and software enhancements and modifications, as well as preparing electrical specifications and risk assessments and associated written user guides for the installation and operation of developed control systems.
To be considered for this varied and challenging opportunity you will be qualified to at least HNC or above and will demonstrate at least 3 years experience of PLC programming experience (S7-200 and S7-1200 Simatic Step 7 v.12), WinCC Comfort and Scout and Lenze 8400 series and Siemens Simotion Servo controls and associated comms platforms.
