Our client specialise in the design and manufacture of a range of special purpose products for supply to the global defence sector, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of planned strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced, dynamic and self motivated Engineering Manager to complement their established and highly successful In Service Support team.
Working in an environment responsible for undertaking the systems design activities within the UK, these activities provide a consistent systems engineering approach to all the stages of product development from concept to in service support, with the team providing the main technical focus for projects and major sub-systems contracts and interface with customers and suppliers on technical issues in all phases of a system’s life. With a proven track record in understanding, designing and supporting complex systems to meet demanding customer needs and constantly developing new technologies aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of products, the Engineering Manager will oversee the delivery of the engineering elements of front-line operational capabilities for one (or more) in service systems and perform day to day management of the engineering elements of projects on contracts owned in the UK.
You will coordinate and drive all engineering activities including surveillance/life extension programmes and respond to all customer technical queries, managing defects, associated engineering changes and modifications, maintenance of configuration records and maintenance of Technical Publications and safety management, and will identify and manage activities required to provide assurance of continued Safety and Suitability for Service of the system.
Responsible for managing all engineering elements of modifications, reworks and replacement programmes to sustain the systems in service (including its support equipment), you will additionally manage investigations of project problems, issues or developments and develop and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of the project team, making engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority and engaging with engineering teams for elements which Design Authority approval is required.
It is envisaged that successful candidates will be degree qualified or equivalent in an engineering discipline and demonstrate multi-disciplined experience of working in an engineering environment – ideally within the Aerospace or Defence Sector on weapon systems – and with the ability to work to processes and fully understand relevant engineering and quality standards.
