Description: Enthusiastic and self motivated Manufacturing Engineer required to create and implement manufacturing processes and continuous improvement activities within a globally renowned defence manufacturing environment.
Salary: to £33k plus benefits - negotiable dependant upon experience
Our client specialise in the design and manufacture of a range of special purpose products for supply to the global defence sector, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of planned strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced, dynamic and self motivated Manufacturing Engineer to complement their established and highly successful team.
Reporting to the Principal Manufacturing Engineer, the successful candidate will be tasked with providing engineering support to the production and development departments, creating manufacturing instructions, process development and improvements within a high technology environment.
You will evaluate manufacturing technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions including process improvements and will participate fully in developing, maintaining and modifying manufacturing processes and procedures in response to technical developments and operational need. You will also deliver assigned work packages and contribute as required to cross-functional project / investigations, ensuring requirements are delivered to plan, and will additionally provide technical support to the development and implementation of corrective actions with regards to non conforming products whilst maintaining the integrity of SAP QM data.
You will make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority and actively contribute to Continuous Improvement initiatives as part of the Project IPT or Manufacturing Engineering Function, supporting the Principal Manufacturing Engineer during the preparation and proving of the Production Systems for Certificate of Manufacture approval and in bid preparation to facilitate the development of successful bids. Additionally you will be instrumental in the development of manufacturing processes commensurate with the design, cost and quality requirements of the deliverable product and resolving technical issues in relation to the manufacture and delivery of product at any point in the life cycle of the product.
To be considered for this varied and challenging role, you will be qualified to at least HNC Level in a relevant discipline and will demonstrate the ability to interpret design drawings with a view to producing manufacturing build instructions for both skilled and semi-skilled operators. You will possess experience of electronic sub-assembly manufacture from PEC assembly through to integration of sub-assemblies into system level builds, alongwith knowledge of the assembly process for small/miniature electro-mechanical actuation systems.
