Description: Mechanically biased (electrically aware) installation engineer required to take materials handling projects from shop floor to customer site.

Our client has been established for almost 25 years and specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of highest quality automation and materials handling systems and solutions for a diverse range of industry sector applications. As a result of continued success and a planned program of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit a local, mechanically biased (multi disciplined) materials handling engineer to complement their established and successful team.
Reporting to the Contracts/Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for a range of “hands on” activities on various projects on the shop floor, before following completed projects to customer site for hand over and final commissioning, and it is envisaged that realistically up to 70% of the role will be based on the shop floor currently (raising to 50/50 over time) with the remainder spent commissioning at customer locations throughout the UK. You will therefore be a confident individual capable of supervising and directing fellow team members, and will be comfortable in a customer facing environment.
In addition to performing a predominantly mechanically biased range of duties, you will additionally be electrically aware (although not necessarily qualified) and will be comfortable in undertaking basic fault finding, and the ability to read schematic drawings with a basic appreciation of AutoCAD is also a requirement for the position.
To be considered for this varied and challenging position, you will possess at least an ONC/HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering (although relevant experience on conveyors will also be considered) and be able to demonstrate previous experience of working with conveyor and materials handling systems. You will be a practical person with a good understanding of engineering principles with a flexible outlook, and capable of working both autonomously and as part of a team.
