Our client specialize in the design and supply of equipment used in the treatment of domestic and industrial water and wastewater, and as a result of recent positive restructuring and a series of strategic acquisitions that have provided the organisation with recognized trademarks, cutting edge technology and access to new markets, they are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and self motivated CAD Design Engineer to join their established and highly successful Drawing Office Team at their Wolverhampton location.
Reporting to the Principal Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing 3D models of process water plants using the Medusa CAD system utilising tried and trusted arrangements as well as designing bespoke solutions as dictated by the available space and the contract specifications.
Additionally you will produce plant layout drawings to best utilize the available space to incorporate the process equipment specified, and draft P&ID’s based on company standards and contract specific requirements. You will develop fully representative 3D models of bought out equipment from certified 2D drawings and will design 3D models of plant arrangements including Pipework, Structural Steel, supports and Electrical containment ensuring the plant is operable and maintainable whilst meeting the process requirements.
Working with fellow engineers, you will ensure that the system is structurally sound and will present 3D models for review/HAZOP to internal and external audiences, before producing properly dimensioned 2D drawings from the model and producing associated material take off and bills of material as required. Additionally you will assist in the maintenance of the CAD system and ensure that correct upgrades are identified and implemented and perform checks on 2D drawings produced by others within the team.
To be considered for this varied and challenging role, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will have achieved at least ONC/HNC in drafting and mechanical design and be proficient in the use of the Medusa 3D CAD system. You will be able to make decisions requiring the use of a variety of variables in non-standard situations and to use your independent judgment in the performance of job duties without supervisor support. Occasional travel to sites in the UK or abroad may be required.
