Description: Experienced sheet metal engineer with experience of 3D modelling packages and cost etimating experience for established specialist.

Our client, established for more than half a century and a complete solutions provider in all aspects of precision sheet metal fabrication, machining and finishing to a range of clients that include major Aerospace and MoD customers globally, are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, committed and capable Programmer and Estimator to complement their established and successful team. Whilst 70% of the role is associated with the programming activities, the remaining portion of the role involves estimating and management training activities.
This is a dual role position, where the successful candidate will demonstrate at least 8 years experience ideally gained within a hands on sheet metal environment and will have full knowledge and understanding of technical drawings and sheet metal practices (programming, punching, forming and welding etc) and experience of 3D Modelling (preferably using Inventor although experience of SolidWorks or other 3D Modelling packages may be acceptable dependant upon other experience), and additional skills in Radan CAD CAM software (or again, variations on a theme). Previous inspection experience (the client has a CMM Cad Cam measuring machine that will also require programming) will also prove distinctly advantageous.
As this is a dual role position, you will ideally also possess experience in customer liaison, purchasing and in the pricing and estimating of components for the Aerospace, MOD and Defence sectors, with knowledge in aircraft materials, hardware, plating and painting finishes essential for success in this role, and you will provide rapid reactive response and creation of quotations in accordance with customer requirements, and with the majority of customers supplying drawing packs where you will be required to plan the process of manufacture, allocating times against each process to supply a competitive quotation, your previous experience gained within the industry will ensure that you know where to source all the required materials / hardware to complete the manufacture of the component within the required budgetary and timescale constraints.
You will additionally assist the MD in the planning of the workload, either by leadtime on quotations or assisting with current orders, as well as undertaking the hands on purchasing activities of all goods as well as being able to complete all tasks from quotation stage through to delivery.
