Our client are the leading advanced automation and real-time business intelligence specialists committed to providing highest level Automation, Control and IT Solutions and Services to a range of major customers in the Nuclear, Power Generation, Utilities and Oil & Gas markets, and as a result of continued success and a planned program of ongoing strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced, dynamic and proactive Senior Systems professional to complement their established and successful team.
Reporting to the Senior Management team, this is a senior modulating control engineering position requiring an experienced engineer with significant experience in the design, development and commissioning of closed loop control schemes on new-build projects and existing plant enhancement schemes. The role is based within the power generation and renewables business and the successful candidate will be expected to take a lead role throughout the entire project lifecycle ultimately leading to customer acceptance.
You will be tasked with the interpretation and development of customers’ requirements and the design, development and commissioning of new plant modulating control schemes as well as improvements to existing schemes, interfacing with hardware engineers and performing on-site commissioning of plant interfaces and control devices whilst working within a multi-disciplinary project team to demanding customer timescales.
To be considered for this varied and extremely challenging role, you will hold a Control and Instrumentation engineering qualification (degree or equivalent) or comparable industrial experience and demonstrate proven control system design experience gained within the Control & Automation industries, ideally within the power generation environment. With a good understanding of power and/or other relevant industrial processes, you will possess experience in the design and implementation of closed loop, PID based control strategies and of control scheme performance optimisation and tuning, with software design experience based on the IEC61131-3 concepts utilising generic re-usable code.
You will be skilled in the preparation of well structured detailed design documentation and will be flexible to travel to customer sites throughout the UK, so a full UK driving licence is essential for the position. Proficient in the use of the MS Office suite including database development and manipulation using Access, additional experience of control system implementation on DCS/PLC platforms such as Schneider, Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Siemens APACS, PCS7, S7, ABB or equivalent systems and hardware engineering skills, particularly plant interface engineering will prove distinctly advantageous, as will an appreciation of safety related systems to IEC61508/61511.
