Description: Mechanical Design Engineer required for a range of high value projects allied to the water treatment sector.
Salary: to £30k plus benefits
Our client specialize in the design and supply of equipment used in the treatment of domestic and industrial water and wastewater, and as a result of recent positive restructuring and a series of strategic acquisitions that have provided the organisation with recognized trademarks, cutting edge technology and access to new markets including sea water desalination and energy, they offer a complete range of both solutions and products on a Global basis and are seeking to recruit an experienced Design Engineer to complement their existing team.
Reporting directly to the Design Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the general arrangement and creation of detailed design drawings, P&Id’s and design documentation for a number of contracts, and will serve as the main design contact for customers and other departments whilst ensuring that design requirements are scheduled and successfully completed.
Duties will include:
· Preparing conceptual design schemes and producing site layout drawings and P&ID’s to specifications produced by the proposals/process/engineering departments as well as Process Block Diagrams, Hydraulic Gradients and Schematics as required by the individual projects.
· Designing, producing and taking responsibility for detailed piping diagrams including isometrics, and GA’s and preparing mechanical drawings for construction of process.
· Preparing material take-offs including Valve schedules, Instrument schedules and equipment schedules and generating part numbers and BOM’s as required.
· Developing standard details and components and plant piping/skid detailed design
· Conferring with engineers to implement operating procedures, resolving system malfunctions and meeting required schedules and to provide technical information.
· Reviewing detail drawings for dimensional accuracy and adherence to established standards and specifications and performing investigative analysis of designs for improved performance, appearances, engineering concept and manufacturing capability.
· Complying with all work rules including those that pertain to H&S and travelling to customers and other client locations, obtaining on site measurements to complete necessary tasks assigned.
To be considered for this challenging opportunity, you will possess an HNC Mechanical or Process Engineering or higher with related work experience, demonstrable knowledge and experience in AutoCAD, 3D modeling & FEA as well as IT literacy on the MS Office suite, strong interpersonal, verbal and written skills in dealing with internal and external customers and knowledge of appropriate standards and the ability to comply with them.
