Description: Multi discipline Works Engineer / Maintenance Manager required to coordinate the activities of a busy maintenance team.

Salary: to £40k plus benefits

Our globally renowned client works with a diverse range of automotive and commercial vehicle manufacturers throughout the world, and as a result of continued success and a planned program of strategic growth, are seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Works Engineer to complement their established and successful team.

Working in a busy maintenance department, the successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision and control of a small team of multi skilled engineering providing planned preventative and reactive maintenance support to the full range of plant and facilities.

You will direct the activities of the maintenance team to provide a prompt and efficient repair and maintenance service to production departments, and will both develop and improve maintenance procedures to improve the performance of equipment, managing the computerised preventative maintenance programmes to ensure efficient preventative maintenance and contributing to the installation of new plant and equipment or modifications to existing plant and equipment where required.

You will ensure all staff in the department are appropriately trained and will be responsible for the control and monitoring of air compressors and other essential services to ensure optimum availability, ensure plans exist to minimise disruption caused by loss of essential services and operating as part of the “callout” team in special circumstances where required.

You will develop relationships with external suppliers of services or spares to ensure prompt attention to any breakdown and Identify and plan a key spares provision system, whilst supporting the Facilities and Works Operations Manager(s) in the discharge of their duties and ensuring that all sub-contract work/workers stay within the company guidelines.

To be considered for this varied and challenging role, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least HNC level or above in an associated trade skill and will be Mechanical/Engineering Apprentice trained with at least 5 years supervision experience gained within a busy engineering manufacturing environment. You will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of TPM systems and implementation, and will come from a CNC/Manufacturing background and will be conversant with HS and E legislation and best practice.
