Our client specialise in the manufacture of components for supply to the global automotive sector, and as a result of continued success and a planned program of strategic growth, are now seeking to recruit an articulate, dynamic and highly self motivated and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to complement their established and successful team.
Reporting to the Senior Manufacturing Engineer, the successful candidate will provide technical support to the manufacturing function, focussing in particular on the improvement of existing manufacturing processes and the support of the introduction of new products and process equipment within a busy manufacturing facility.
You will be tasked with studying and recording performance of the busy manufacturing operation in order to establish standard production rates, line balancing and efficiency improvements using Method Time Management (MTM), and will prepare and control Operational Description Sheets (ODS), charts, graphs, and diagrams to illustrate workflow, routing, floor layouts, material handling, and machine utilisation.
Working closely with the Senior Engineering team in establishing and developing the design and equipment standards during launch milestones and product design reviews, solving issues that may arise along the way, you will additionally control and update documents to follow established corporate systems (i.e. Business Operating System (BOS), DFM&A, PFMEA, Process Flow, etc.) and will both evaluate and implement new process improvements using lean manufacturing techniques, supporting plant lean and kaizen events and analyzing and recommending improvements to various areas, whilst developing action plans which include process optimization to lower cycle times and reduce scrap, Line balancing, Facilities layouts and Shop floor control systems.
Additionally you will support the associated Production, Quality and Continuous Improvement Departments in a range of activities including Containment / countermeasure solutions, Practical Problem Solving (PPS), Rapid Improvement Event (RIE) and Total Cost Investigation (TCI), and previous experience in these areas is critical for this role.
Qualified to at least HNC level in a relevant engineering discipline and able to communicate effectively at all levels with various internal and external customers, you will be self motivated, conscientious and demonstrate a dynamic and methodical approach to your work with the ability to work well under pressure again being an essential attribute for this post. Experience in the use of AutoCAD as well as people management and leadership skills gained within a similarly fast paced manufacturing environment will prove distinctly advantageous for the role.
