Our globally renowned billion dollar turnover client specialise in the manufacture of an exhaustive range of composite materials and engineered products to a diverse range of industry sectors, and as a result of continued success and a planned program of strategic growth, are now seeking to recruit a number of dynamic and experienced Materials Scientists and Qualification Technologists to work in the professional European Qualifications department of the Research and Development Division.
You will be degree qualified in Chemistry, Materials or an Engineering related discipline although lesser qualifications will be considered where previous experience is demonstrated within a relevant commercial environment.
ESSENTIALLY you will demonstrate previous experience in mechanical testing – especially tensile, compression testing, mechanical sheer testing (more than simply DMA testing), as well as associated report writing and test analysis experience.
You will be able to work with minimal supervision and will possess a keen eye for detail alongwith a practical approach to work and the ability to problem solve and work well within a team, as well as demonstrating exceptional communication skills and the ability to produce and present reports for all levels of the business.
You will perform a varied range of activities within this challenging role including testing the physical and mechanical properties of the materials used utilising a wide variety of techniques, and will be responsible for all aspects of project preparation and planning as well as the creation of associated technical reports and the review and vetting of external specifications, hence the necessity of excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Additionally you will prepare specimens, analyse and report on results and undertake a range of exercises that will develop further understanding and exploration of composite materials and their structures.
