Our client is seeking to recruit a Mechanical Engineering qualified Technical Manager to complement an established and successful team, reporting directly to the Managing Director, and requiring a highly self motivated, commercially astute, articulate and dynamic engineer to become primarily and solely responsible for all aspects of design, development, production, repair and quality of new and existing products within a busy product distribution operation.
Degree qualified, you will be responsible for consistently applying sound mechanical engineering principles and generating creative and innovative concepts for new designs, and will demonstrate proven skills and experience in the use of Solidworks Parametric 3D CAD and FEA software (although experience gained using other 3D solid modelling packages will potentially also be considered).
You will be tasked with the creation of data/specification sheets, BOM’s, parts lists, design calculations, manufacturing drawings, user instructions and risk assessments, as well as performing the assessment of / ensuring compliance of products to regulatory and legislative requirements such as International Standards and CE marking, and will undertake complete product lifecycle project planning from initial enquiry to delivery, whilst managing a team of sub-contractors to create production schedules, negotiate fabrication costs and timescales, agree best manufacturing methods and oversee fabrication to ensure budget, quality and time constraints are adhered to.
Additionally you will be extensively involved in developing product test and verification methods and overseeing testing, as well as overseeing and approving repair work and investigating and resolving product failures and customer complaints. You will conduct Pre-delivery product inspections and provide technical expertise and training to customers and sales managers, and will be responsible for the creation of database programmes using Visual Basic and Excel, so PC literacy is essential, and will take responsibility for QMS & EMS ensuring accreditation to ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 and all aspects of company Health and Safety.
