Our client is one of the world's leading technical software and hardware distributors, providing PC solutions for scientists and engineers and supplying PC based solutions to industry, research and academic organisations, and are now seeking to recruit a dynamic, enthusiastic and self motivated Technical Sales and Support professional to complement their existing team.
Reporting to the Sales Manager, you will be the first point of contact for all post sale and pre-sale customer technical support enquiries, working with a range of leading Data Acquisition hardware and software products from a range of companies and providing technical advice and support as well as assisting in the analysis of technical sales enquiries to assist colleagues in finding the correct solution in line with customer requirements. The role also includes initial evaluation of Data Acquisition hardware returned by customers for repair and administration associated with these tasks on the database.
You will act as the first point of contact for product technical sales and support enquiries, dealing with these in an efficient and timely manner and utilizing colleague’s skills where necessary, and will undertake some consultancy work i.e. system integration and training, whilst supporting the marketing team and the Product Manager with technical input and product reviews for marketing communications, and ensuring the company website and download area are always up to date.
Additionally you will occasionally provide support on other related software applications that the client sells, and undertake calibration of Data Acquisition hardware as a post-sales service or prior to shipment of new products as required. You will also maintain customer interaction records on the sales, marketing and support database and review status of outstanding issues on a daily basis, and it is therefore envisaged that you will have attained a relevant engineering qualification to at least HND level as well as ideally being able to demonstrate previous experience gained within a Process control, test and measurement, development support or production support environment using data acquisition and measurement equipment (including thermocouples and other transducers and control units, monitoring/control equipment, signal processing, industrial interface & control, analogue and digital electronics proving distinctly advantageous).
You will demonstrate a logical approach to problem solving, excellent communication skills, the ability to work autonomously or as part of a team and ideally knowledge of basic programming using VB, C or C++. Additionally, experience in using software products such as LabView™, Dasylab™ or Matlab™ or Maple, Maplesim and Mathcad as well as data acquisition hardware products from companies such as National Instruments and Agilent will prove distinctly advantageous.
