Description: Enthusiastic and experienced Linux / Unix systems administrator required to undertake a range of hardware and software support activities.

Salary: to £35k plus benefits including weekend overtime, 5% contributory pension and up to 6% bonus

Our client is renowned as a global market leader in the supply of bespoke materials handling solutions for a diverse range of applications, and as a result of continued success and a planned program of strategic growth, the company are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, dynamic and self motivated Systems Administrator to compliment their existing professional team.

 
Reporting to the Head of Product Development, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of Systems Administration, Hardware specification, Hardware and Software Installation both in house and on client sites, Application software testing / commissioning and client site training.
 
You will specify and recommend hardware platforms and configurations for projects, keeping up to date with latest hardware developments and be involved in the configuration and installation of hardware components and the installation of operating systems and application software, providing Linux Systems Administration support, both in house and to projects and Installing hardware and application software to client sites and providing associated Client site application training.
 
Additionally, you will perform In House testing of application software, logging progress and keeping the Systems Project Manager informed of the same, and will raise software faults (including sample data and a clear description of the fault when necessary), and assess whether the Acceptance Test matches the Functional Design Specification.
 
To be considered for this exciting and challenging opportunity, the successful candidate will hold a full driving licence and be able to demonstrate considerable knowledge and experience of Linux / Unix administration. Whilst knowledge of the Warehousing and Distribution sector and a relevant engineering qualification will prove advantageous, experience of building and specifying hardware is essential, as is the ability to work effectively as both part of a team and autonomously when necessary.
