Description: Electrical engineer required to coordinate the activities of a team in line with customer requirements within a safety critical environment.

Salary: to £33k plus benefits

 

Our client is renowned as a market leader in the supply of engineering solutions allied to the Nuclear sector, and as a result of continuing success and a planned program of strategic growth, are now seeking to recruit an Electrical Engineer keen to pursue a career in this challenging and specialist market sector and who will understand and develop designs, lead projects and write construction plans, work order cards, risk assessments and simple safety cases in order to meet customer’s requirements in line with budgets and timescale constraints.
 
The successful person will need to have:

  • A good track record of working within a maintenance and operational environment, particularly in the field of nuclear/power generation sectors
  • Successfully completed Electrical Safety Training
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strong focus on safety and quality
  • Passed radiological medical
  • A valid driving license and car insurance
  • Completed Safety Passport as a minimum, with IOSH Managing Safely preferred
  • Be able to secure and maintain security clearance for working on UK nuclear sites.
 
The successful individual will ideally have completed a HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years experience as well as a thorough working knowledge of the 17th edition IEE Regulations for the Electrical Equipment of Buildings. Also they should have a minimum of 2 years site installation / commissioning experience preferably in the nuclear / power generation sector.
 
You must be willing to spend extended periods away from home because the position is site based, and will report to the Site Manager & Customer liner management regarding site activities and programme. You will liaise with Client Site Engineer’s as well as our client on technical aspects and carry out supervisory duties whilst adhering to the SSoW and working within the clients PTW arrangements. You will be capable of commissioning, testing, fault finding and rectification and of reading P&ID’s, circuit diagrams, etc and provide technical guidance to a team of Technicians.
 
Additionally you will liaise with personnel both internal and external to the company to ensure that the requirements of all parties are executed in a safe manner and to a high standard and ensure conformance to all local client and company procedures, including the relevant legislation, and carrying out other duties and special projects as required and working flexibly within the team to ensure that the current and future needs of the business are met, and ensuring that they understand and sign onto the relevant safe systems of work associated with the task. You will also be responsible for recording any problems encountered during the progress of the work and notify their line management of the details in a prompt manner, as well as producing and reviewing accurate, appropriate method statements, risk assessments and other safety documentation, in order to prepare work packs.
