Our client is renowned as a market leader in the supply of engineering solutions allied to the Hazardous Materials Handling sector, and as a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, are now seeking to recruit a Graduate Metallurgist / Materials Engineer to compliment the existing team.
The successful candidate will work in the Materials and Process Technology division, a multi-discipline group providing technical support to other departments within the Company (principally engineering design), and also directly to their customers, and covering areas such as Stress and Vibration Analysis, Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow; Physics Analysis, Safety and Reliability, and Materials (Metallurgy).
One of the core responsibilities of the team is advising on the selection of materials, surface and corrosion protection etc., and the specification of welding, NDT and certification requirements during project design phases, although they also carry out materials' investigations, testing and failure analysis, including technical liaison with external laboratories and suppliers. As well as carrying out a variety of tasks relating to the above, you will be involved in and assist with the review/assessment of subcontract welding documentation against the requirements of the contract. This will include drawings, specifications and standards as well as being involved in the preparation, control and issue of internal Company welding documentation.
To be considered for this challenging position and due to the specialised nature of the content of the role, you will have attained your degree in materials/metallurgy and will be highly self-motivated with a methodical approach to your work, and able to work autonomously or as part of a team, with a genuine interest in this type of work and the determination to develop your expertise in all its aspects. You will possess good communication skills, enabling professional reporting of work, and effective liaison within your team, and other departments, as well as with the customers' representatives and suppliers.
It is essential that you demonstrate a sound knowledge of materials/metallurgy and/or welding processes, familiarity with engineering drawings and the ability to read and understand technical documents. Additionally, a high level of computer literacy (proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Word,Excel and Powerpoint).alongwith practical welding knowledge/experience and familiarity with Welding Standards(BS EN 288, BS EBN ISO 15614, BS EN ISO 15609, ASME IX) would be distinctly advantageous.
