Description: Proactive and experienced FMCG Production Manager required to drive the activities of a busy mill manufacturing operation.

Salary: to c40k neg dep exp + benefits

Our FMCG client has been established for almost 30 years and provide both services and products on a truly global scale. As a result of continued success and a planned programme of continuous improvement and strategic growth across 11 sites throughout the UK, they are now seeking to recruit a dynamic, self-motivated and experienced Production Manager to complement their established and successful team and oversee the day to day management of a busy mill manufacturing facility.

 

Reporting to the Operations Manager and with direct responsibility for both an Operational Support Manager and a number of Production Team Leaders, the Production Manager role is responsible for all aspects of the mill manufacturing environment, managing both personnel and manufacturing assets in a manner that meets the commercial requirements of the individual business unit whilst ensuring feed safety, maximised process efficiency, service, feed consistency and a safe working environment are maintained on a best cost framework. Core responsibilities will include (but not be limited to)

  • • Responsible for the achievement of agreed production budget (dependent on volume and product mix) whilst continually striving for greater efficiency.
  • • Managing and maintaining the mill operational structure to provide feed of a consistent quality to the required specification and feed volumes in line with mill capacity through ensuring optimal production planning and throughput
  • • Ensuring that the achievement of food safety is always a priority
  • • Improving competency, team work and empowerment of individuals through training.
  • • Ensuring continued compliance with H&S and Environmental Law and Policy.
  • • Actively drive the site’s Continuous Improvement Programme and support the implementation of the capital projects for the site as well as supporting planned maintenance activities
  • • Communicate with other functions to understand and ensure customer expectations are met.
  • • Maintain hygiene standards and the implementations of all procedures to meet the requirements of Assurance schemes and law
  • • Utilise the site’s business systems to monitor and control production process
  • • Ensure compliance to site HACCP system requirements.

With responsibility for the leadership and ownership of the entire production process with an asset value range of between £5m and £15m, you will have full legislative responsibility for E,H&S obligations and accountability of the site production budget of up to £4m per annum. Results will be measured in a range of areas including:

  • KPIs, budgets, costs and performance assessments for mill.
  • Internal employee survey scores.
  • Health & Safety audit scores and accident statistics
  • Continuous improvement assessment (PDP).
  • Monthly QA results for feed analysis.
  • Internal Quality Audit scores and external reports.
  • Customer complaints

To be considered for this varied and challenging role you will be an experienced Production Team Leader or Manager, with experience gained ideally within the feed / food manufacturing industry. You will demonstrate experience with Continuous Improvement implementation and sustainment and will be skilled in recognising opportunities for efficiencies, and confident in working to BRC or equivalent standards of operation.

You will possess exceptional communication skills at all levels and will work with a number of stakeholders across the organisation including regional quality, HR and E,H&S teams as well as customer service and commercial teams, and with proven experience in both training and developing team members, you will be well organised with excellent prioritising abilities within a fast-paced environment. You will also be adept in managing a budget and have report generation and interpretation experience with a high level of IT proficiency and will be flexible to travel to other sites within the business occasionally as required.
