Our client specialises in the optimisation and management of assets associated with the electricity supply sector, and as a result of a planned programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and highly capable Electronics Design Engineer to complement their dedicated product development team.
Reporting to the Division Head, the successful candidate will become a key member of the instrument development team, leading projects to design equipment aimed at improving the safety and reliability of electricity networks and working within a multidiscipline team, delivering the full life cycle of product development in a role that offers considerable variety, with day to day activities ranging from discussing technical issues with customers through to detailed hardware and firmware design
The successful candidate will demonstrate proven and comprehensive electronics development skills, and will be an innovative problem solver with relevant experience gained within a product design environment, and it is envisaged that the successful candidate will possess at least 3 year’s relevant commercial experience and a degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
You will demonstrate previous experience of full cycle product development from concept to adoption and of previous electronic hardware design, including analogue, digital and preferably RF. You will possess experience of firmware development preferably using C and FPGA design experience (preferably using VHDL), along with knowledge and experience of associated regulatory requirements, e.g. EMC, LVD etc. With a proven track record of technical innovation and delivery to market and the ability to estimate and deliver technical development to tight timescales, previous experience of successful project management would prove distinctly advantageous.
Realistically you will be a self-motivated and adaptable individual, eager to and capable of learning new technologies as required, and ideally will be a Chartered Engineer or currently progressing towards this status. With a pragmatic, measured and focused approach to development, you will be able to take responsibility and ownership of projects & tasks and be flexible and able to determine changing priorities. Previous experience of working within an electricity transmission, distribution or generation environment would again prove advantageous.
