Our client has an enviable 21 million global customers and one of the largest and most efficient automated distribution centres in Europe - processing more than 1 million items each day and able to hold an impressive 16 million products at any one time. As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic multi skilled Lead Engineer to carry out reactive and PPM maintenance activities on a range of PLC
controlled automated materials handling systems.
Working a 38.5 hour week, the successful candidate will be a multi skilled engineer demonstrating extensive experience of carrying out routine planned preventative and reactive maintenance on automated equipment and materials handling systems as required within a busy distribution hub.
In addition to PPM and reactive breakdown repair work on a range of garment handing, monorail and conveyor equipment, you will be tasked with coaching and leading the Engineering Assistants on shift and working closely with onsite external equipment service engineers to ensure optimal system performance is achieved and maintained. You will liaise with the Engineering Team leader to coordinate all efforts and recommend modifications on the hanging garment systems whilst complying with relevant H&S legislation, and with the site operational leaders to share work plans and requirements, escalating issues where appropriate and creating shift log and incidents analysis reports where required.
You will effectively prioritise the workload of First Time Fixers to resolve issues and minimise the operational impact and lead focus on continuous improvement within the shift group (Mech/Elec), understanding the impact of MTTR and MTBF measures and working to reduce them whilst maintaining a safe and legal working environment. You will deliver excellence through effective processes and ways of working, driving availability for the customer (Operational Excellence) and will act as deputy for Engineering Shift Manager s required.

• People management skills and the ability to work autonomously or in a team
You will ESSENTIALLY possess GCSE/O Level qualifications in Maths and English and have completed a recognised apprenticeship in an appropriate engineering discipline or have undertaken recognised cross training from Electrical to Mechanical Engineering or vice versa. You will be qualified to a minimum ONC / OND level qualification in an appropriate engineering discipline and ideally will be 17th Edition certificated, and will be comfortable in working at heights.
