Our client is the global leader in the creation of innovative digital media technologies for a niche market sector and work with some of the world's leading media organisations, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now
looking to recruit a similarly dynamic and professional Head of Engineering to complement their established and highly successful team.
Based in Central London and reporting directly to the Board, the Head of Engineering is a senior level engineering position with responsibility for all research and development activities for the company, and will suit only the most experienced and tenacious of hardware / software engineering professionals to head up all R&D activities working from concept through to mass production on a range of innovative solutions.
After initially gaining the essential understanding of the existing product range, the successful candidate will become the technical expert able to offer "live" technical support to customers through face to face meetings, whilst playing an instrumental role in the development and evolution of the company's R&D facilities, supporting the Directors with decisions concerning internal facilities, hardware and software to be used and creating internal proposals for NPI including component selection, timescales and costing, with full responsibility for the creation
and execution of the company's product road map.
You will be responsible for all aspects of new product development including Electronic hardware system design and off the shelf component integration, and will essentially demonstrate experience with both Digital and Analogue design along with skills and experience in both displays (LCD / TFT / OLED) and with 3G/4G and GPS. Additionally, you will demonstrate previous exhaustive experience in EMI control and management, Fault finding and troubleshooting, Electrical circuit testing and Embedded Microprocessor / Microcontroller based hardware design, with experience of LV (12V) interface circuits and power supplies, PCB layout, Circuit simulation and schematic capture within a mass production environment.
Skilled in software development (Windows, Linux, C, C++ and Assembler) within an industrial design environment, you will demonstrate end to end product development experience gained within a ruggedized electronics environment. With designs geared for maximum product
reliability and longevity, you will have a strong understanding of component selection based on industrial merit with a genuine interest in new electronics technologies and developments.
A skilled Project Manager able to work autonomously as well as part of a talented and committed team, you will be passionate about technology, growth and innovation and be able to motivate, develop and manage others around you, so it is essential that in addition to
the essential technical skills and experience, you demonstrate a dynamic and creative approach to inspire those around you.
To be considered for this varied and challenging opportunity it is envisaged that you will be qualified to at least Degree level in an electronics or relevant discipline and have proven experience in leading and developing teams within a fast growing technology environment. Experience of ruggedising electronic systems is essential as are skills gained within typical hardware and software development platforms and
programs - with experience of ruggedising display systems proving distinctly advantageous.
