Our client has been established for more than half a century and are a global supplier and household name in the garden equipment arena, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Product Design Engineer to complement their established and successful team.
Working in prestigious surroundings situated close to the manufacturing, quality and test facilities on site and reporting directly to the Project Manager within the busy high volume FMCG design, assembly and manufacturing environment, the successful candidate will work as part of a team tasked with the design and development of new products to complement the existing successful and extremely diverse product portfolio.
You will demonstrate a proven track record of successful product design gained within a in consumer durables environment, and will be skilled in responding to commercial briefs for product specifications as well as developing innovative ideas for new products and associated drawings to obtain design approval, designing new products on 3D CAD (Siemens NX5 experience preferred although other 3D Cad package experience will be considered) and prototyping new products as required. Additionally you will be extensively involved in the testing of new products and using analysis to review / improve product design as well as undertaking the testing and evaluating of competitors’ products to ensure market leader status is maintained.
It is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least HND level or above in a relevant Product or Industrial Design Engineering qualification and possess at least 3 years post academic commercial experience gained within a product design environment. Experience of 3D CAD is essential as is experience of designing components for plastic injection moulding domestic components and materials. Additionally, experience of commissioning injection mould tools will prove advantageous, as will experience of Siemens NX5 or higher and of liaising with tooling and manufacturing engineers as required.
With your meticulous attention to detail and excellent drawing / rendering skills, you will be an excellent communicator at all levels and be comfortable in working both autonomously and as part of a team.
