Our client is a specialist manufacturing representation organisation supporting major suppliers to the OEM automotive industry, and who deal with day to day quality and engineering issues in companies such as Ford, Renault, BMW and JLR working for clients who supply grey iron and aluminium castings machined by the customer manufacturing plants.
As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit a dynamic and experienced Resident Engineer for in-plant representation in the new Jaguar Landrover engine plant located in Wolverhampton. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced engineer with essential basic foundry knowledge to liaise with engineers on the machine line, diagnosing and assessing any problems with rough cast and fully machining cylinder heads and cylinder blocks, and it is envisaged that the successful candidate will ideally possess casting and machining experience gained in the automotive industry along with relevant engineering qualifications or experience in Tier 1 or Tier 2 manufacturing.
An effective communicator at all levels and with good all round proficiency in the MS Office suite, you will be required to visit the plant from Monday to Friday in order to support customer meetings as and when needed and to respond to customer concerns as required. You will be required to be contactable 24/7 in case of emergencies and be available to respond to specific customer concerns within 1 to 2 hours during the week and 3 to 4 hours during the weekend.
You will visit the plant, assess any necessary actions that need to be taken to ensure production is continued and liaise with their respective contacts in the client’s manufacturing plants to establish what actions may need to be taken. Additionally, from time to time trials will be run on the machine line in Jaguar Landrover where you will also be expected to provide support until completion and to report back any findings.
You will liaise extensively with the Jaguar Landrover Quality, Engineering, STA, Logistics and Manufacturing teams as and when the job demands in order to ensure continuous production and smooth deliveries to the Jaguar Landrover facility, and the role also necessitates occasional (fully expensed) travel abroad for training in either Germany, or the Czech Republic. Additionally you will need your own transport as occasional trips to the BMW Hams Hall facility will also be undertaken.
