Our client specialise in the supply and support of a diverse range of special purpose Mailing, Packaging and Labelling machinery for clients throughout the UK. As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and highly self-motivated Service Controller to coordinate and schedule the engineer activities within a busy service environment and complement an established and successful team.
Reporting to the Service Manager and based within the office / workshop environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for handling service and general calls from customers and logging information on the service database, coordinating call allocation to engineers in a cost efficient manner and maintaining spare parts stock both in house and car stocks. You will conduct monthly stock checks and issue monthly routine services to engineers whilst maintaining a good geographical knowledge of the United Kingdom.
Additionally you will be responsible for the ordering of spare parts from suppliers and sourcing lowest prices where possible, so will essentially demonstrate strong commercial awareness and the ability to influence and negotiate effectively, whilst managing warranty claims with suppliers and both progressing and administering engineer paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. You will issue emergency spares to customers and engineers when required and prepare associated chargeable call paperwork for invoicing accordingly, booking hotels and travel arrangements for engineers as required and providing statistical information for analysis on engineer’s performance when requested.
As well as supporting engineers with latest equipment information as developments in the marketplace take place, you will also arrange customer support and training, so excellent communication skills at all levels are essential for the role. You will possess solid organisational and planning abilities and will accurately file all service paperwork as needed as well as following up on contract cancellations and issuing new contracts to customers where required. In addition, you will be responsible for managing the Service Diary and outlook spreadsheets and registering and communicating engineer sales leads when they arise.
To be considered for this varied and challenging role, it is envisaged that you will possess previous experience of working within an engineering or technical environment and essentially will demonstrate exceptional customer facing communication skills at all levels.
