Description: Experienced Technical Sales specialist with proven experience gained in the automation and materials handling sector required by our established niche sector solutions specialist.
Our client has been established for almost 25 years and specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of highest quality automation and materials handling systems solutions, and as a result of continued success and a planned program of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit a local and experienced Sales and Business Development Manager to complement their established and successful team.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will be tasked with proactively promoting the range of company products and services and selling low risk solutions that satisfy customer requirements and make best use of the assets of the organisation.
Responsible for meeting and exceeding sales performance targets, you will need to demonstrate the ability to manage your time efficiently, as it is envisaged that you will spend at least 3 days out of each week “on the road”, visiting existing and potential customer customers to discuss and evaluate their business requirements and to promote the portfolio of products and service solutions, so a systematic and methodical approach to territory management and area planning is essential for success in the role.
In addition to proactive new business development activities, you will also manage reactive enquires that come through via various channels, and will prioritise effectively to ensure prompt follow up activity is undertaken. You will also oversee and maintain a range of existing accounts and proactively undertake regular contact with these on an ongoing basis to ensure any potential requirements are identified at the earliest stage possible.
As well as supporting with the company marketing and PR strategy, you will act as the main contact for all enquires and contracts, proactively identifying and developing valuable new contacts as well as potentially viable new market sectors, and will be responsible for the preparation of associated quotations based on Sales information obtained and both costing and delivering these quotations as required.
Over time, you will form strategic alliances with companies where the business activities complement each other and add value to each other’s scope of supply, so exceptional communication and influencing skills at all levels are essential for the position, along with demonstrable commercial acumen and a dynamic and self-motivated approach to business development.
It is envisaged that the successful candidate will demonstrate at least 5 years’ previous experience of working within the materials handling and automation sector, and will be realistically qualified to at least HNC level in a relevant engineering qualification (although previous experience within the sector will also be favourably considered).
