Description: Enthusiastic junior design and manufacturing professional required to join an established and highly successful niche sector team.

Our client has been established for more than 35 years and are recognised market leaders in the design and development, manufacture and distribution of an impressive portfolio of electrical cabling and connection solutions for supply throughout the world.

As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now looking to recruit an enthusiastic Junior Manufacturing Design Technician to complement their existing professional design team and support the design, development and implementation of improvements to the manufacturing and assembly processes in order to reduce downtime and improve quality.

Reporting to the Design and Technical Manager and realistically qualified to at least HNC or above in a relevant Design, Mechanical or Manufacturing engineering discipline, the successful candidate will demonstrate at least 2 years’ experience gained within a busy Mechanical Manufacturing environment with knowledge of Pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems proving distinctly advantageous.

With experience of tooling or jig and fixture design and the ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings, you will be skilled in the use of a range of measuring equipment and committed to consistently achieving highest standards of Quality. With excellent IT skills including the Microsoft suite of packages, you will demonstrate good 3D CAD modelling software knowledge and Auto-CAD software experience, with knowledge of SAP again proving advantageous.

Able to undertake data interpretation and analysis activities and demonstrate knowledge of metal manufacturing processes and of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, you will work in a predominantly office-based environment although could occasionally need to undertake site and supplier visits and overseas travel, so a full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel are essential for the position.

Tasked with CAD model and drawing creation, review and storage, you will undertake component and assembly design using engineering principles and your materials knowledge and will investigate and undertake analysis on how to improve existing processes and tooling, writing technical reports to summarise findings and both summarising and presenting scientific and engineering conclusions in a comprehensive form.

You will also assist in identifying new systems and processes to improve quality and will evaluate manufacturing processes, researching and developing solutions to increase efficiency, reduce down time, reduce waste and scrap, and reduce costs.
