Description: Exciting combination role of Group QA Manager, QA Manager and HSE Manager within a highly successful engineering and manufacturing Group.
Our client is part of a group that has been established for more than 150 years and specialise in a range of bespoke engineering activities, with this newly created role covering two dedicated divisions allied to the design and manufacture of fluid and mechanical handling solutions for a diverse portfolio of blue-chip clients globally. Due to continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and self-motivated Group QA Manager, QHSE and QA Manager with the role able to be based out of either Leeds or Gateshead offices and covering both divisions.
For the Leeds based part of the role and in the position of QA Manager, the successful candidate will promote quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the business and be responsible for setting QA compliance objectives and ensuring that targets are achieved, whilst working with the purchasing team to establish quality requirements from external suppliers. You will ensure compliance with both national and international standards and legislation whilst considering the application of environmental and health/safety standards; and agreeing standards and establishing clearly defined quality methods for staff to work within.
Other responsibilities will include defining quality procedures in conjunction with operating staff, setting up and maintaining associated controls and documentation, identifying relevant quality-related training needs within the team and ensuring tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated. You will liaise extensively with customers' auditors in order to ensure the execution of corrective action and compliance to customers specifications and will establish standards of service for customers or clients and prepare clear explanatory documents such as customers' charters. You will also be responsible for monitoring performance through audits and gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports and assist in maintaining quality accreditation as required.
For both the Leeds and Gateshead Operations, and in the position of QHSE Manager, your responsibilities will include preparing H&S strategies and developing internal policy, carrying out risk assessments and considering how risks could be reduced, outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards and conducting ad hoc site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented. You will plan practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting health and safety and safe working practices and make changes to working practices that are safe and comply with legislation and will attend safety committee meetings as required.
Other responsibilities will include leading in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks, keeping records of inspections findings and producing reports recommending improvements as well as keeping records of incidents and accidents and producing statistics for managers, keeping up to date with new legislation and liaising with officials from relevant regulatory authorities to ensure the organisation is compliant with mandatory regulations. You will be tasked with producing management reports, newsletters and bulletins and the compilation of CDM documentation i.e., H&S plans and H&S files etc as well as carrying out accident investigations on site and producing subsequent reports and recommendations, carrying out fire drills and managing hazardous substances and the disposal of chemicals, e.g. asbestos. You will also advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g., fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases and assist in establishing and implementing QHSE policies and procedures within the group to comply with ISO 9001:2015.
In the capacity of Group QA Manager and reporting directly to the MD, you will review and amend the Group QA Manual as and when necessary (i.e., to reflect changes to the ISO system or the business needs), conduct Group audits as necessary to ensure compliance with the Group QA Manual and ISO system and give advice on the Group QA policy when required. You will produce the annual Group management review report and attend audits with third party assessors (LRQA) at inter-company sites/locations of the Group as required.
