Description: Experienced Mechanical Project Engineer required to ensure on-time within-budget project delivery on a range of projects allied to the water and wastewater treatment sector.
Our client has been established for almost a decade and specialise in the provision of wastewater solutions from design through to delivery with both municipal and industrial clients across the UK as well as internationally, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, are now seeking to recruit an articulate, enthusiastic and experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to complement their highly professional team.
The successful candidate will be tasked with a range of project management and procurement activities, encompassing all mechanical works and associated fabrication management and interfacing with the electrical engineer on site, as well as for the management of suppliers and sub-contractors both on and off site and for Financial management to ensure on time-within budget successful project delivery.
You will be responsible for the management of suppliers and sub-contractors on and off site and will both develop and maintain the project installation programme using EXCEL or MS Project, preparing accurate internal monthly project progress reports for the Company Directors and maintaining a site diary as appropriate.
You will oversee all aspects of site commissioning and client sign off and all associated necessary documentation and will attend all site meetings and record minutes of these meetings as required. You will be skilled in interpreting drawings for fabrication and installation with approved subcontractors and proficient in the use of AutoCad for amending and marking up drawings. Other responsibilities will include maintaining the QMS on site documentation and all aspects of Health and Safety, including preparing detailed method statement and risk assessments and ensuring up to date health and safety training certificates and Management Cards are in place.
With excellent communication skills at all levels, you will be required to provide operator training as required, and will excel in building strong relationships with both new and existing customers, suppliers and subcontractors and will work closely with the team of in-house design engineers in identifying variations on solutions and formulating operations and maintenance manuals for the business, as well as drawing on your experience to provide support in tender preparation on installations costs as required.
To be considered for this varied and challenging role it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be degree qualified in a relevant Mechanical Engineering discipline with at least 2 years wastewater industry sector experience (although a degree is not essential if a candidate can demonstrate at least 5 years’ experience in a comparable role within the wastewater sector). As the role is both office and field based, a full clean UK driving licence is essential for the position, as is the flexibility to occasionally undertake overnight stays as required.
