Technical Support Specialist
£42k increasing to £44k after 1st year + on call allowance + car + generous benefits

Description: Experienced technical support specialist required to provide internal and external assistance on a range of automated systems and special purpose machinery.

Our client is recognized as one of the UK’s market leaders in the area of automated materials handling system solutions, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now looking to recruit an articulate and enthusiastic Technical Support Specialist to complement their existing professional team. 

Reporting to the Technical Support Manager and working alongside a dedicated team of Hotline Support Engineers and Systems Analysts, the Technical Support Specialist position is responsible for the day to day management of technical issues for both company and other OEM materials handling equipment based at client sites in both the UK and Europe, providing technical support to internal and external customers through predominantly field based activities and supporting the 24hr support desk function as required. 

You will work closely with the support desk and provide holiday, on call and absence cover for the support desk where necessary, undertaking swift resolutions to client issues, whilst supporting and assisting the account management team and reviewing statistical monthly data for site MHE equipment in order to create technical plans for any issues raised. 

Drawing on your technical knowledge of the systems, you will assist in the creation of enhancement, modification and upgrade quotations to ensure they are produced on time, to a professional standard and accurately, as well as assisting in the delivery of these presentations to clients where required, ensuring integration between the design, engineering and customer service and support functions and managing the escalation process in the event of customer issues as required. 

To be considered for this varied and challenging role it is ESSENTIAL that you hold a full clean UK driving licence in order to undertake site visits and will be highly proficient with Simatic S7 PLC systems, with knowledge of additional platforms proving distinctly advantageous. 

You will be a confident used in Windows based operating systems and the MS Suite of packages, and able to interpret and produce electrical drawings for upgrade work or fault diagnosis and repair activities as required. 

Working as part of a team of seven you will demonstrate excellent communication and customer-facing skills at all levels, along with a self-motivated and committed approach to problem solving and excellent prioritising skills, and it is envisaged that you will be qualified to at least HNC level in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or above along with at least 2 years previous experience of working in automation and MHE environment.
