Maintenance Engineer (Shifts)

Description: Multi skilled (mechanically biased) shift maintenance engineer required to undertake both PPM and reactive breakdown repair activities on a range of special purpose automated equipment allied to an FMCG production arena.
Our client has been established for almost half a century and specialise in the production and supply of a range of highest quality food products to retailers and bakers across the globe. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic multi skilled mechanically biased shift maintenance engineer to complement their established and professional team.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and working on a rotating 12-hour shift basis (2 days on – 2 nights on – 4 off), the successful candidate will be tasked with ensuring plant and equipment downtimes are minimised and building upkeep is maximised at all times through efficient response times and data acquisition and RCA activities, whilst ensuring adherence to relevant QHSE legislation and both developing and sustaining continuous improvement activities across the site in order to ensure to achieve necessary production targets and OEE KPI’s as required.
You will be responsible for performing PPM and reactive breakdown repair activities on a broad range of FMCG related special purpose machinery and equipment including conveyors and automated systems as well as ovens, packaging machinery, water, steam, freezing and air systems, and you will perform both electrical and mechanical fault find, diagnosis and repair activities in an often pressurised environment to ensure production downtimes and waste are minimised. In addition to a multi-disciplinary background, additional experience in welding and fabrication and basic machining will prove distinctly advantageous when carrying out various "general maintenance" tasks within the department.
Other duties for this mechanically biased shift maintenance engineer role will include performing root cause analysis on line-performance and stoppage issues and undertaking extensive production line monitoring, conducting H&S checks and ensuring equipment compliance (reporting non-conformities where identified), as well as maintaining compliance with all other company policies and procedures at all times.
You will attend relevant training courses including Company Induction, Health and Safety, Manual Handling and Food Safety training and will be required to successfully pass and hold a valid Level 2 Food Safety certificate, and you will also control and maintain the cleanliness and efficiency of PPE and escalate any problems on the line immediately to the relevant managers or departments (e.g. Maintenance, Quality or H&S) as required.
To be considered for this Leicester based varied and challenging shift maintenance engineer role within an internationally recognised market leading client, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least C&G / NVQ level or above in a relevant electrical and mechanical engineering discipline and demonstrate at least 3 years previous experience of working within a multi skilled maintenance role within a busy manufacturing environment.
