Maintenance Engineer
to £45k + £250pm on call allowance

Description: Experienced and proactive Maintenance Engineer required to work as part of a busy multi skilled maintenance team performing PPM and reactive breakdown repairs on a range of SPM.

Our client is part of as multi-billion-pound global organisation employing more than 70,000 staff in more than 100 countries and are recognised market leaders in their niche manufacturing sector. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and multi skilled Maintenance Engineer to complement their established and professional team based in the Brinsworth area of Rotherham. 

Working as part of a team of similarly multidisciplinary engineers, the successful candidate will be tasked with undertaking electrical and mechanical planned preventative and reactive breakdown repairs on a range of plant and equipment, ensuring plant reliability and equipment availability as well as a safe place of work and a well-maintained environment are sustained. As a qualified engineer you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of various items of plant and equipment utilising your Mechanical and Electrical maintenance experience, conducting PPM in accordance with scheduled work orders whilst minimizing disruption to overall site operations, as well as diagnosing faults and reactively repairing plant and equipment in response to breakdowns as they may arise.

Able to work both autonomously and as part of a team, you will also be responsible for assisting in the installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment where necessary, whilst monitoring and supervising contractors, apprentices and trainees as required, and will also undertake the sourcing and purchase of spare parts, equipment and workshop materials as appropriate.

Whilst the position is a normal “days” role working Monday to Friday, you will on occasions be required to cover out-of-hours breakdown work or planned equipment overhaul duties on weekends, and this is the reason for the additional generous site support allowance paid monthly. Other duties will include participating in a range of site and departmental activities when they may arise, including Risk Assessments, planned general Inspections, problem solving and Improvement Groups, and Monitoring and assisting trainee staff, in addition to:

  • Maximising productivity through availability of equipment including continuous improvement projects.
  • Providing technical support and major input into the resolution of plant problems
  • Involvement in accident investigation and reporting to maximise knowledge of causes and to prevent recurrence.
  • Engaging with and controlling of contractors for mechanical, instrument, electrical and civil work without scope of the internal maintenance team.              

To be considered for this unique opportunity it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least C&G level or above in a relevant Mechanical, Electrical or Instrument discipline and demonstrate previous knowledge and experience of working to IOSH safety management standards and relevant regulatory legislation covering plant maintenance, administration procedures and SHEQ.

Realistically you will possess at least 3 years previous experience gained within an engineering or manufacturing environment with excellent communication skills at all levels, along with significant experience of multidisciplinary plant maintenance, with knowledge of cylinder filling operations and LiMSS / TRACCESS / LiDAP proving distinctly advantageous.
