Description: North Midlands based multi skilled Field Service Engineer required to undertake a range of PPM and service / installation / commissioning activities on a range of automated systems and MHE.

Our client has been established for almost half a century and specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of a range of bespoke and modular automation and materials handling solutions for supply to food, pharmaceutical, distribution, recycling and baggage handling customers across the UK.

As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and highly self-motivated multi skilled, mechanically biased Field Service Engineer to complement the existing members of the maintenance and service team to assist with the business strategy of increasing turnover, profitability and growth.

The successful candidate will be tasked with undertaking a range of planned preventative and reactive breakdown maintenance repair activities as well as performing contractual service visits, installation and commissioning duties as required by the customer.

In an environment committed to the highest levels of customer service and satisfaction, in addition to being able to demonstrate a solid multi skilled, mechanically biased background and relevant engineering qualifications, you will demonstrate exceptional communication and customer facing skills whilst providing onsite installation, validation and commissioning of new machines, performing onsite trouble-shooting service and repairs and providing a high-level of technical support to external customers at their location.

You will ensure tools and equipment are checked before travelling to site and will be responsible for the generation of risk assessment and method statements in preparation for sitework activities, creating detailed report sheets of a job summary to office personnel for processing and providing support to the spare parts department as required for quoting recommended spare parts and remedial work after each site visit.

You will also be both active and positive in the company’s Non-Conformance and Customer Complaints review scheme to help with the continuous improvement of the business and will contribute feedback to the business in order to assist with streamlining best working practices, and you will act as the crucial link between the business and customers / environment and situation onsite to ensure any issues are resolved as a priority whilst ensuring that Health and Safety guidelines are followed at all times.

To be considered for this varied and challenging role it is envisaged that you will ideally be qualified to at least HNC level or above in a relevant engineering discipline with demonstrable previous mechanical maintenance experience, conveyors and electrical knowledge would be advantageous plus a high level of customer focus and a methodical approach to problem solving. You will be an excellent communicator at all levels able to work autonomously and as part of a team, with previous exposure to the materials handling and automation sector proving distinctly advantageous, as would previous experience gained in the use of the SAP service application and working within ISO 9001:2015 environments.
