Field Service Engineer - Fire Protection

Location: Home based - Midlands region and also Northampton region available

Description: Experienced Multi Skilled field service professional with experience of alarm systems, smoke detection & fire suppression / extinguishing solutions required by our market leading solutions provider.

Our client are market leaders in the fire prevention solutions sector and have been established for almost half a century. Employing more than 700 staff across locations all over the world, as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of expansion and strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic multi skilled Field Service Engineer to complement their professional customer engineering support team.

Reporting to the Service Manager, the successful candidate will be tasked with performing a combination of both planned preventative service and installation work as well as reactive breakdown and repair activities (roughly 95% planned and around 5% reactive call out) across the greater Midlands area (with similar positions available in the Northampton, Luton and Cambridge areas), working on a range of smoke detection, fire protection and oxygen reduction and extinguishing systems used in a range of environments and applications.

Ensuring compliance with all relevant safe systems of work and H&S legislation at all times, in addition to performing both mechanical and electrical fault find, diagnosis and repair as well as project installation and servicing activities, you will be responsible for the completion of accurate and timely site service records and worksheet documentation for associated invoicing, maintaining accurate records of your van stock inventory and ordering spares as required, whilst ensuring the highest levels of customer service and satisfaction are achieved at all times and utilising your excellent communication skills at all levels with both internal and external customers and departments.

To be considered for this varied and challenging multi skilled field service position it is envisaged that the successful candidate will demonstrate at least 3 years previous experience of working in a multi-disciplinary electrical or mechanical field service engineering position and will realistically demonstrate relevant engineering qualifications to at least HNC level or above in a mechanical or electrical discipline.

Experience of having worked in the fire alarm / fire suppression / smoke detection / oxygen reduction sector will prove distinctly advantageous, as will experience of having worked on compressors, vacuum pumps and gas pressure vessels.

You will essentially hold a full UK driving licence along with a Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) qualification or similar (ECS card) and will be flexible to travel throughout the greater Midlands area with occasional overnight stays required depending on projects and customer requirements.
