Description: Dynamic and enthusiastic German speaking Mechanical Design Engineer required by our globally renowned special purpose machine solutions specialist.
Our client has been established for more than 80 years and are internationally recognised as global market leaders in the development and manufacture of drilling and cutting tool solutions for supply throughout the world. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit a German speaking Mechanical Design Engineer to develop special product models and prints using sound design techniques to satisfy the needs of both customers and manufacturing operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and updating standard prints to current specifications, providing special detailed drawings and models to customers upon request, and performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and design analysis as required, as well as providing working models and drawings to operations to produce special products, working closely with the Applications Engineering team to ensure that the design fits the customer’s needs while being able to be produced accurately and efficiently.
Other duties will include the continuous identification and implementation of processes and opportunities to reduce the time required to produce special models, working with the Senior Design Development Team Manager to suggest and/or produce user-defined features and regenerable models as needed to improve efficiency in the department, and also striving to produce quality models and drawings that provide all of the required information for programming, manufacturing and inspecting special products on a “right first time” basis.
With excellent communication skills at all levels and a methodical approach to problem solving, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least HND level or above in a relevant Mechanical Engineering, Drafting or Design Technology discipline and demonstrate at least 3 years’ experience of working within an Industrial CAD design environment.
Essentially you will be a fluent German speaker with the ability to converse technically at all levels as required, with a proficient knowledge and application of basic drafting concepts and principles, demonstrable knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry and a good understanding of basic machining processes (turning, milling, grinding and EDM). You will be a confident user of ProE with a strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, with a strong Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of FEA software (ANSYS or Creo Simulate preferred).
With good organisational skills and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team, you will excel in recommending potential solutions to design feasibility problems and relating product tolerancing to manufacturing process capabilities and both understand and employ structured problem-solving skills and techniques.
Training and inductions will be held in the USA and Germany so you will also need to hold a valid passport and driving licence, and when you are not working in the prestigious West Midlands office environment you will work from your home office requiring high speed internet connectivity.
