Description: Mechanically biased, multi skilled Field Service Engineer required to undertake a range of service, installation and repair activities on a range of automation and speciial purpose materials handling equipment.
Salary: to c£33k + generous overtime, expenses, company van and profit share scheme
Our client has been established for almost half a century and specialise in the design, manufacture and installation of a range of bespoke and modular automation and materials handling solutions for supply to food, pharmaceutical, distribution, recycling and baggage handling customers across the globe. As a result of continued success and an ongoing planned program of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated mechanically biased Field Service Engineer to complement their established and successful team.
Based from home and responsible for covering the whole of the UK (with the majority of work being carried out in the Midlands and North of England), the successful candidate will essentially hold a full clean UK driving licence and demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach to work (including weekends) and overnight stays as required.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will need to demonstrate previous experience of working within the materials handling systems assembly, installation, commissioning and servicing sector throughout the UK, and will possess a progressive and positive work ethic, and ‘’a take the lead attitude’’ showing clear visibility of this to senior management.
You will be required to successfully carry out work with no supervision with the ability to assess the job requirement using your own skills and initiative and will undertake a range of mechanical engineering duties including conducting planned, preventative and reactive site visits to maintain client specific equipment.
You will excel in meticulously documenting and capturing machine/site information and completing in depth associated written reports from every site visit, feeding back into the business in order to ensure that further opportunities are secured with clients, and you will assist in new project installations and commissioning at client sites throughout the UK as required.
To be considered for this varied, challenging and genuinely exciting opportunities it is essential that you will be qualified to at least C&G Level 3 or above in mechanical engineering and have successfully completed a recognised apprenticeship. With excellent Communication (written and verbal skills) and IT Skills at all levels, you will be willing to undertake basic electrical work if required (Training Provided) and comfortable in working both autonomously and as part of a team.
Previous experience of working in a mechanical maintenance role within the materials handling sector in other environments such as warehouse, food & drink manufacturing, and pharmaceutical, with the knowledge of conveyors, roller chain systems, shafts and bearings will prove distinctly advantageous.
