Our client has been established for more than a century and are renowned globally as a market leader in their specialist field, and as a result of continued success and a recent positive restructuring process are urgently seeking to recruit a highly self-motivated, dynamic and proactive Logistics Coordinator to complement their highly professional team.

Reporting to the Logistics Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing a consistently high standard of administration support across the busy logistics department (ranging from goods in, warehouse and the dispatch of goods) and will deputise for the Supervisor as required by the department.

Confident in taking the lead in operational daily meetings, you will be instrumental in ensuring that operational targets are achieved and goods are despatched with the agreed timescales, and will support the Logistics Manager and Supervisor in ensuring that all KPIs and operational targets are visual and up to date

Other responsibilities will include co-ordinating the administrative logistics process for all inbound and outbound deliveries to enhance the company’s reputation for quality and on-time delivery to meet business growth targets, serve as the lead point of contact for all administrative and logistical coordination for the Logistics department – and perform a range of supporting administration activities that will include booking in deliveries, receipting goods, coordinating shipments, deliveries, completion of export paperwork, and the dispatch of goods as well as entering data onto the ERP, managing paperwork, ensuring delivery schedules are met and providing an efficient administrative support to the team.

Working collaboratively with other departments including planning, production, supply chain and quality, you will strive to deliver against both manufacturing objectives and customer requirements in order to ensure the timely processing of the incoming and outgoing of goods, and will obtain transportation / freight costs and update and maintain freight rates whilst liaising closely with transportation/couriers and plan deliveries to meet customer demand and aim to streamline shipping and transport processes.

Other duties will include (but not be limited to) ensuring value for money at all times and that the company receives competitive freight costs (by obtaining 3 quotes and having responsibility for undertaking negotiations of freights contracts and SLA’s) and providing support in the management and control of the logistics department performance, KPIs, development and continual improvements, ensuring availability of product into the RDCs from suppliers.

You will identify, implement and review continuous improvement activities within the role, simplifying processes and operations to maximise efficiencies and utilising the ERP system for processing goods issues to both internal and external customers, and will plan deliveries and collections to ensure the most cost-effective use of the available transport fleet, all in accordance with the production plan and budget as well as resolving customer queries and complaints in a timely and efficient manner. 

To be considered for this extremely varied and challenging role, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified in a relevant Business Administration, Logistics or Supply Chain qualification and demonstrate a “can do” attitude with exceptional communication and influencing skills. Experience of utilising ERP and working within strict budgetary and timescale constraints is essential – as is the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team whilst paying meticulous attention to detail and consciously pursuing continuous improvement across departmental activities.
