Our client has been established for more than 100 years and specialise in the provision of sustainable waste management solutions to clients throughout the South East region. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of planned strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit a multi skilled shift maintenance professional to complement their established and successful team.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager and based in East London, the successful candidate will be tasked with undertaking planned preventative, reactive fault diagnosis and breakdown repair and service activities on a diverse range of material recycling facility equipment to ensure minimal site downtime and complete customer satisfaction at all times.
Working on a shift basis (5 days on – 4 off – 5 days on – 5 off – 4 days on – 5 off rotating and including weekends), you will essentially be flexible to undertake additional shifts including weekends and Bank Holidays where necessary and you will be responsible for carrying out electrical refit and design work as requested, whilst maintaining stock levels and appropriate levels of “spare parts”, and for ensuring that the maintenance work area is kept clean and any potential hazards are dealt with in the correct manner.
An excellent communicator at all levels, you will mentor and empower fellow team members to allow them to benefit from your experience, and will liaise closely with the Engineering Manager each day to prioritise the day’s workload and escalate any matters as necessary as well as planning additional activities whilst the materials recycling facility isn’t operating. Comfortable in working both autonomously as well as supervising a small team, you will assign and prioritise work accordingly as well as be able to quickly assess the root cause of breakdowns and ensure their prompt and safe repair and resolution on an ongoing basis.
To be considered for this varied and challenging multi skilled shift maintenance engineer position, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will essentially demonstrate single or 3 phase electrical qualifications and at least 3 years’ experience of working within a multi-disciplinary special purpose machinery environment. Whilst experience of working on balers, compactors, gearboxes, conveyors and motors will prove distinctly advantageous, hydraulic experience is also essential as are strong interpersonal skills and the highest levels of customer satisfaction focus.
