Salary: negotiable dependent upon experience - c£40 per hour to c£50 per hour
Our client is embarking upon an exciting new practice in the West Midlands and are seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Obstetric and Gynaecological sonographer to complement their existing professional team, with the medium-term objective of becoming a 10% partner within the organisation.
Reporting to the Registered Manager and clinic owner, the successful candidate will be tasked with providing highest quality diagnostic ultrasound scanning services to customers and ensuring that the mothers and attending family members are made to feel comfortable and relaxed and that they understand the process of scanning their baby, and will be responsible for communicating findings clearly as well as managing any situations where an anomaly is found with compassion and professionalism.
Core responsibilities for this varied and challenging role will include Ultrasound Scanning and providing a qualified and expert diagnostic assessment to parents of the key aspects of their baby’s development and the pregnancy, providing a caring and safe service to all customers and ensuring that customers are respected and provided with a dignified and professional experience.
You will provide a correctly completed Obstetrics Report to each customer as well as the best possible high-quality Ultrasound scanning images using all accepted techniques to position baby appropriately, ensuring that mothers and families are well informed throughout the scan process and are made to feel both comfortable and relaxed. Additionally and essentially for the position, you will be able to communicate effectively and empathise in difficult situations and demonstrate the highest levels of compassion and support where foetal anomalies are identified or suspected, and be able to fully and openly discuss this with the parents as required.
You will essentially ensure that correct procedures and protocols are followed at all times and that the mother is referred to relevant NHS specialists via the local Pathway process as necessary, and will follow up any identified anomaly with NHS specialists as required. You will work closely with other members of the clinic team to make the customer’s experience unique, special and memorable whilst ensuring that the use of the Ultrasound machine is performed in accordance with acknowledged guidelines and in line with the ALARA principles. You will ensure that customer’s personal information and data is respected and secured at all times and never exposed to any risk of disclosure or breach and will be eager to undertake self-development, maintaining relevant professional qualifications and registrations including HCPC and SOR and undertaking Continual Professional Development activities as required by professional counsels.
To be considered for this exceptional opportunity it is envisaged that the successful candidate will demonstrate at least 3 years experience as a Sonographer and demonstrate evidence of recognised qualifications in Medical Ultrasound, registration with a relevant Statutory Body (e.g. HCPC) and hold current membership of a Professional Body providing Insurance Indemnity (e.g. SOR) along with proof of Medical qualifications.
