Description: Dynamic and highly energetic and articulate Software Support Engineer required to join a vibrant team committed to providing the highest levels of customer support and satisfaction on an array of cutting edge automation technology solutions. C# and C++ skills are essential - as is the ability to communicate enthusiasticaly and effectively at all levels. This is NOT a software development role.

Salary: c£35k - £45k neg dep exp + benefits

Our client specialises in the design and build of bespoke and innovative highest technology automation and robotic systems used in laboratory environments across the globe. As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an articulate, energetic and enthusiastic Software Support Engineer to complement their Manchester based team and provide technical and customer support to the Sales, Field Applications and Service customers in both the UK and Europe.

 

Working as part of a team genuinely committed to consistently delivering the highest standards of customer service and satisfaction, this is a rare opportunity to combine utilising your software development and C# / C++ skills with delivering customer support solutions in a vibrant and energetic environment, where the ability to develop lively and professional rapport with the customer and troubleshoot to a satisfactory resolution drawing on all of your skills and communication abilities is essential for success in the position.

As a systems integrator, all of their equipment is manufactured in the USA and designed to be interchangeable with an array of customer laboratory peripherals, so each support task will be unique to each customer, and if it’s not practical to resolve issues using the normal support mechanisms and techniques, you will need to be flexible to occasionally travel to customer sites and provide support and resolution on the ground – so customer facing communication skills are critical in the position.

During the installation and commissioning phases of the equipment, you will support the on site engineers by creating drivers and the necessary scripts as well as providing on-site training as required, and as they currently receive around 200 customer support enquiries each month that can be resolved in anything from 15 minutes to 5 days depending on the complexity – you will thrive within a varied and challenging environment where every day really is different to the last!

With customer contacts ranging from research scientists to laboratory managers, these are people who will know what they want but won’t be skilled in software development to achieve this, and you will need to be patient and able to empathise with them and communicate effectively to ensure you can illicit necessary information that will allow you to deliver satisfactory solutions.

To be considered for this exciting and rare opportunity within a fascinating and technically superb environment, you will realistically be qualified to degree level in a relevant software related discipline and demonstrate at least 12 months commercial experience gained within a software or electronics environment.
