Description:  Experienced and enthusiastic Senior Automation an MHE Engineer required to coordinate the activities of a small team tasked with continuous improvement, PPM and reactive maintenance activities within a busy automated distribution environment.

Our client has been established for more than 30 years in the UK and almost a century globally, and specialise in the manufacture and distribution of niche sector products to 150 countries throughout the world. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and highly self-motivated Senior MHE Engineer to complement their established and professional team. Based near Rugby and reporting to the Engineering and Process Improvement Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for a team of 4 multi skilled engineers and tasked with ensuring that all company materials handling equipment and plant are maintained to achieve maximum operational availability.

Working from 11.30am to 8pm Monday to Friday, you will be tasked with delivering improvements to equipment, assisting with projects as required and developing best practices within the busy automated distribution environment on a continuous improvement basis, as well as allocating work to the MHE team to ensure that routine maintenance is up to date and reactive faults are completed with minimum downtime. You will also ensure that all work that is carried out is also recorded on the (“Agility”) CMMS and will work closely with contractors in order to ensure that work is completed on time and in full, and that contracts continue to offer value for money.

As the Senior MHE Engineer, you will manage resources effectively and provide both advice and guidance to the MHE team whilst overseeing the efficient operation of the department and coordinating all MHE fault support and repairs, analysing breakdowns and performing RCA to prevent re-occurrence, and will fully utilise the CMMS system for fault reporting, spare parts usage and stock management. Other duties will include coaching and developing the MHE engineering team and proactively ensuring that PPM schedules are both planned and achieved, and that all KPI’s are performed effectively and within target and agreed parameters.

To be considered for this varied and challenging role, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will demonstrate comprehensive experience of working on a range of special purpose automation equipment associated with a busy automated warehousing and distribution centre environment, including manual and automated picking cranes, conveyor systems and various mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. You will essentially be comfortable in working at heights and will demonstrate an electrical bias gained within a heavier industrial application environment and good technical knowledge of S7 PLC and inverter driven automated systems, Profibus and ASI networks and barcode scanning networks.

You will be PC Literate with the Microsoft suite of packages and have successfully completed an apprenticeship in an electrical or mechanical engineering discipline (or equivalent), and possess previous experience of working in a support role within a multi-skilled maintenance environment with at least 3 years demonstrable supervisory experience, and will be skilled in maintaining and developing excellent customer relationships whilst being organised and proactive in your approach with excellent problem-solving abilities and exceptional communication skills at all levels.
