Our client is a highly successful niche FMCG sector manufacturing market leader who are now seeking to recruit a dynamic, proactive and experienced Multi Discipline Maintenance Engineer to complement their established and rapidly expanding professional team in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that supplies to customers throughout the world.
Based in Ashton Under Lyne in a prestigious manufacturing and distribution environment and reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will work on a permanent “late shift” basis – (2pm to 10pm - Monday to Thursday and 2pm to 8pm on Friday) and be responsible for providing technical assistance across the business dealing with an array of semi-automated machinery, hydraulic systems, conveyors and MHE, gluing, wrapping and cutting equipment as well as other items of special purpose equipment.
It is envisaged that the successful multiskilled candidate will be electrically biased and proficient with electrical 3 phase work and basic PLC fault find, modification and debug activities – and who is wanting to take on a more challenging role providing a multi-skilled maintenance service covering electrical and mechanical disciplines. You will essentially demonstrate excellent communication skills at all levels and will be comfortable in liaising with both contractors or external suppliers as well as internal team members in order to clearly communicate technical issues, and will be skilled in providing technical support as well as input to projects and initiatives as required by the business.
Skilled in continuously looking to improve equipment efficiencies and cost reductions as well as developing and implementing PPM schedules and programmes, you will be responsible for ensuring work is completed in a safe and diligent manner to ensure regular feedback on issues arising before, during and following activities that are carried out, and will maintain equipment supported by sound diagnostic and problem solving skills, raising issues as required and maintaining, repairing and calibrating electrical and mechanical equipment to optimise both reliability and maintainability.
Realistically experienced in an FMCG environment, you will be a positive and multi-disciplined team player demonstrating excellent problem solving and fault-finding abilities and able to communicate effectively with people at all levels, whilst demonstrating a flexible approach to working additional hours from time to time in line with the needs of the business.
