Our client demonstrates an impressive heritage covering almost 100 years of involvement with the aerospace sector and as a result of continued success and an exciting programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and highly capable Senior Avionic Design Engineer to complement their established and professional team.
Based in the South of England and reporting to the Head of Design, the successful Senior Avionic Design Engineer will be tasked with overseeing a small team of design engineers undertaking the design and certification of avionic systems and installations for an array of Military and Civil aviation customers.
Responsible for reviewing and understanding customer modification requirements in order to produce avionic system architectures, scheme designs and installation drawings, you will conduct engineering reviews (preliminary and critical design reviews) both internally and with the customer and both produce and check drawings in accordance with company design procedures.
You will also liaise closely with the maintenance and production arms of the business to resolve any issues encountered with the subsequent installation of the avionic systems, and support and maintain the design and certification databases as well as other divisions of the business as required.
To be considered for this exciting, varied and challenging Senior Avionic Design Engineer opportunity it is essential that you possess exceptional communication and technical skills, relationship building and team motivation abilities at all levels, and proven experience gained within an avionics or capability modifications, production or maintenance environment allied to either fixed or rotary wing domains. You will be skilled in understanding, recording and analysing avionic engineering data and requirements in order to determine the most appropriate solutions whilst satisfying customer requirements.
Essentially, you will also either currently hold or be able to attain UK MoD Security Clearance and will demonstrate at least 5 years’ experience in the use of AutoCad Electrical or AutoCad for schematic layout and design applications (with 3D experience proving advantageous although not essential) and be fully conversant in the use of MoD and Civil technical standards, specifications and certification methods.
It is realistically expected that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least HND level or above in a relevant aerospace engineering or equivalent discipline, with a degree in aerospace of electrical engineering proving distinctly advantageous, as will be membership of RAeS of IMechE, although directly relevant experience gained in a similar environment will also be favourably considered.
