Location: Rochester, Kent

Description: Multi skilled Shift Maintenance Technicians required to work within a busy port container handling environment undertaking both PPM and reactive maintenance activities on a range of facilities and materials handlign equipment.

Salary: to £34,600 plus generous benefits

Our client is based at one of the UK’s busiest container and general cargo ports and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are seeking to recruit two self motivated Maintenance Engineering Technicians to complement their established and successful team.

Tasked with the PPM and reactive maintenance and repair of an array of facilities, plant and equipment based within the Port, the successful candidates will work on a 12 hr shift basis and essentially demonstrate previous experience gained within a multi discipline maintenance environment and having worked on large mechanical and electrical equipment, ideally (although not essentially) allied to the Port or materials handling sector.

Realistically qualified to at least ONC level or above, you will ideally possess previous experience of working with drives and controls (Siemens S7, Siemens Master Drives and PLC’s) although applications from more mechanically biased individuals with relevant experience are also welcome.

Successful candidates will conduct the PPM and reactive maintenance activities within a safe and effective manner whilst working to challenging timescale constraints, performing problem solving and decision making activities on a daily basis and communicating these both internally and externally as appropriate, so effective communication skills at all levels are essential for the position, as you will also provide technical expertise to engineering procurement and stores departments where necessary.

Tasked with the completion of all installations and repairs to the highest standards to maintain optimum performance and availability of equipment, you will prioritise work requirements within your area of responsibility to ensure optimum safety standards and maximum efficiencies and utilise Engineering MIS systems to schedule and record progress and completion of all Engineering work activities. An aptitude for working outdoors and at heights is also essential for the position.
