Description: Experienced and multi skilled Maintenance Engineering Supervisor required to oversee the maintenance and inspection actvities within a busy port container handling environment.

Salary: to c£41,600 + generous benefits

Our client is based at one of the UK’s busiest container and general cargo ports and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are seeking to recruit an experienced and highly self-motivated Maintenance Engineering Supervisor to lead the inspection and supervise the maintenance of the variety of Port equipment and complement their established and successful team.

Working a 40 hr week (Mon to Fri), the Maintenance Engineering Supervisor will be tasked with supervising and directly controlling the activities of the planned and reactive maintenance teams whilst ensuring compliance with all statutory and Company requirements, and making sure that all equipment meets the highest standards of safety and reliability through a program of regular inspection and maintenance.

Demonstrating previous supervisory experience in a heavier Engineering based role, the successful candidate will ensure that all Engineering team members and contracted support services are safely and efficiently deployed at all times and will monitor, review and modify the inspection and maintenance programs whilst ensuring that the highest standards of equipment safety, availability and reliability are consistently achieved, in the most cost effective manner possible.

You will ensure planned maintenance activities are communicated with the Engineering Department and Management Teams, for all plant and equipment and will fully support the Engineering Manager in all aspects of the day-to-day running of the department, providing cover for the Engineering Manager as and when required and planning the day-to-day maintenance and works within the department.

Realistically qualified to at least HNC level or above in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, you will demonstrate a proven track record in supervising teams along with experience of up to date techniques in plant engineering repairs and maintenance. Additionally, it would be advantageous to demonstrate experience of wire rope examination and thorough examination of lifting equipment, be an AP61 mobile crane Appointed Person for lifting operations or demonstrate previous experience in the repair and maintenance of port container and general cargo handling equipment. An aptitude for working outdoors and at heights is also essential for the position.
