Our blue chip client is a global supplier of innovative manufactured solutions for niche market sectors, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of planned strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an internal Junior Proposals Technician to complement their established professional team.
Reporting to the Proposals Manager, the successful candidate will join a focused and dynamic team environment and will be responsible for receiving customer quotation requests before preparing and processing the submission of combined technical and commercial proposals, whilst liaising extensively the customer and following the process through to the award of orders.
Demonstrating previous experience gained within an engineering or manufacturing environment, you will be tasked with the creation of complex BOM’s, tender and proposal documentation on multi million pound projects, and will combine proven technical knowledge and experience with exceptional communication skills at all levels in order to accurately and concisely interpret customer requirements.
Upon receipt and registration of the RFQ, you will assess the commercial implications and the level of technical support required in order to complete the quotation, and liaise closely with the Proposals team as well as both the Procurement and Production departments regarding associated materials requirements, inputting quotation data onto the SAP system and generating pricing reports and establishing margins, before preparing final quotation documentation for internal review and approval and subsequently submitting the quotation to the customers.
Other duties will include resolving any queries with the customer throughout the quotation process and verifying Purchase Orders against quotations where applicable, whilst effectively prioritising assigned quotations in order to ensure a timely and concise response to multiple requests.
To be considered for this varied and challenging role it is envisaged that the successful candidate will possess at least 2 years’ experience of working within a technical sales environment with a strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes and the ability to communicate this confidently and effectively with customers at all levels as well as the ability to understand technical engineering drawings and specification documentation. You will be a proficient user of the MS suite of packages with proven experience of SAP business software proving distinctly advantageous.
