Description: Enthusiastic and proactive Junior Estimating and Costing Engineer with an engineering background required for our established and highly successful manufacturing client.
Salary: Excellent remuneration and benefits along with stability and genuine scope for career progression
Our client has been established for more than half a century and offer a portfolio of design through to manufacturing solutions to clients across the country, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated and dynamic Junior Estimator and Costing Engineer with an engineering background to complement their established and professional team.
Working closely with the Sales team, the Junior Estimating and Costing Engineer will be tasked with preparing commercially viable quotations for a variety of customers and for ensuring that they are priced according to client specifications, often working to tight deadlines to meet customer expectations so the ability to work under pressure is essential for the position.
Working from customer drawings and specifications, you will demonstrate previous experience gained within an engineering, tooling or manufacturing background, and this will allow you to confidently calculate tooling and materials costs as well as understand the technical processes required behind the scenes to deliver customer solutions as required.
It is essential therefore that you possess excellent numerical and organisational skills together with a high level of commercial acumen, and demonstrate exceptional communication and influencing skills at all levels along with strong proficiency in the MS suite of packages, and whilst a background in presswork, tool making or design and Laser Cutting would prove distinctly advantageous, it is envisaged that you will realistically possess relevant technical or mechanical engineering qualifications along with previous experience of the estimating process for mechanical components.
Quotations will be prepared in accordance with the organisation’s profit margin policy and will be both realistically priced in line with the client specification as well as ensuring the achievement of company targets, and essentially delivered within established timescales with any issues escalated to the management team as required. Once new jobs are received within the business, you will ensure that the associated material requirements are relayed to the purchasing function so they can be purchased at the correct price.
