Our client, established for more than a century and renowned globally as a market leader in their specialist field, are urgently seeking to recruit a highly self-motivated, proactive and dynamic Production and Development Engineer to develop a new generation of bespoke systems, from concept through to full scale industrialisation for high value projects and NPI across international manufacturing facilities.
Reporting to the Technical Director, the successful candidate will be tasked with the identification and development of innovative new products in conjunction with the global engineering solutions team, whilst coordinating new product development activities and monitoring progress at clearly defined milestones and gateways, undertaking necessary actions to ensure on time project delivery and ensuring that appropriate frameworks are utilised for analysis and consolidation.
Working with the output of FEA and CFD analysis, you will lead FMEA, DFMEA and DFA activities for next generation industrial cooling products and work closely with suppliers to identify both best practice and most cost effective solutions, whilst sourcing appropriate manufacturing equipment and resources as appropriate to support prototype and production activities. Additionally, you will liaise closely with the Engineering Development team to ensure that tests requirements are understood, planned and executed to ensure timeline milestones are achieved.
To be considered for this exceptionally varied and challenging position, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be degree qualified in a relevant mechanical, manufacturing engineering, materials science or project management discipline and demonstrate at least 5 years’ previous experience gained within an industrial manufacturing environment, with Six Sigma training and knowledge of the Heat Exchange sector proving distinctly advantageous. An analytical and practical approach is essential for the position, as is the ability to communicate effectively at all levels supported by strong technical and mechanical engineering skills.
Flexible to travel when required (with a driving licence also being essential for the position), you will possess proven project management success in a previous manufacturing arena and will demonstrate strong organisational skills and effective problem resolution abilities within a pressurised environment, with a keen eye for continuous improvement opportunities within a results driven operation. Above all, you will ensure that company policies, procedures and operations comply with relevant customer, company and industry wide requirements, and will take all necessary action required to ensure company objectives are achieved whilst being within the commercial interests of the business as a whole.
