Description: Experienced Electrical Design Engineer with comprehensive skills in the use of AutoCad Electrical or Microsoft Visio / Design Spark required for a busy solutions provider.
Salary: c£35k - £50k negotiable dependant upon experience plus benefits
Based in Gloucester and established more than half a century ago, our client specialises in the design and manufacture of critical and complex fluid power (hydraulic) systems, generally for bespoke machinery in an extremely diverse range of industries including aerospace, motorsport, off-highway equipment and test rigs, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated Electrical Design Engineer to complement their established and successful team.
As an important part of their systems is the electrical controls and equipment fitted to hydraulic power units, the role has been created to focus on the specification, design and project management of these control panels, and working as part of a team, the successful Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for liaising with customers in terms of quoting/tendering and leading the design of industrial control panels, as well as more practical work, both in terms of circuit drawing and component specification.
As a medium sized company, you will be involved with the whole process and can have a tangible effect on how things are done and the procedures used whilst still maintaining focus on the electrical panel design, with other duties including the production of control systems, working with customers at proposals and quotations stage, and then taking these through the design, oversite of the production and testing, with, on occasion, on-site commissioning stages.
In order to be considered for this varied and challenging position, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will hold a full UK driving licence as there will be some client site visit work on occasions, and you will be essentially skilled in the design, specification and costing of industrial control panels, as well as able to both produce and modify electrical schematic diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical and/or Microsoft Visio and/or Design Spark. You will be able to support PLC specification, installation and commissioning works and will possess an understanding of motors, drives inverters, valves and pumps, with previous experience as a qualified electrically biased multi-skilled engineer, ideally with 17th Edition wiring regulations proving distinctly advantageous.
