Our client has been established for more than a decade, and specialise in the maintenance, service and repair of a range of waste collection vehicles across the UK. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and reliable multi skilled mechanically biased Workshop Engineer to complement their established and successful team.
Tasked with analysing customer requirements and then fabricating suitable components, the successful candidate will be responsible for a range of duties that will include welding parts and floors in LGV’s to fixing dustbin tail-lift equipment on refuse collection vehicles in a busy workshop environment.
You will fabricate parts by using equipment to clean, prepare, cut, burn and weld pieces and setting up and measuring associated assemblies, and use your knowledge and experience to determine the most appropriate method of fabrication. Able to verify welding results by close inspection and test activity, you will also document actions taken through the completion of accurate records for retention by both the customer and the company respectively and will monitor the associated stores inventory for stock replenishment where required.
To be considered for this varied and challenging position, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will essentially demonstrate relevant qualifications in welding and fabrication along with a positive and self-motivated attitude, ideally with previous experience gained within an HGV / commercial vehicle fitter / refuse vehicle or municipal vehicle engineering environment.
Essentially you will also demonstrate exhaustive knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and basic electrical engineering, you will be open to developing your knowledge through education opportunities whilst ensuring compliance with relevant Health and Safety legislation where as appropriate.
